Darby, sitting in the shade of some green vines.

While drinking Mulberry wine,

Seedpods of Coral bead vine, or Gidee-Gidee

Strums his guitar.

If only Geraldine’s daughter

A damsel much sought after

Would walk by, he’d show her

Affection so divine.

He plays a song, singing a bit louder as he starts a tune,

Waxing eloquently, about her fair beauty.

She makes his blood roar like thunder

But the girl doesn’t share his fervor.

She hopes instead for , Prince Charming much older.

Ignoring him as she strolls in youthful splendor.

Proudly glowing, and full to bursting with honeyed praise.

Her indifference rankles, the doting dreamer.

Though his previous attempts at romance ended in disaster

For Darby, hope floats optimistic, bringing him closer to the object of his desire.

“The monotony and solitude of a quiet life stimulates the creative mind” by Albert Einstein.

I thank God for peace, sometimes the sounds of family and living are so loud, harsh and jarring. Not all the birds outside are sweet though, but the ones that do we exist in harmony together.

Meadow

In the early evening

When the work on the farm is done

And the sun is setting

Johnny comes a calling

We oft walk alongside the meadow.

In the still of the dusk

Beautiful flowers, their many colors

Spread out, resplendent like a patchwork quilt

Seem other worldly/luminous in the fading daylight

There’s a sudden movement in the low bushes and my little mutt

Rufus scampers to investigate.

It’s probably a wild rabbit

I purse my lips in remembered delight

Gone were the days when Pa would come through the door whistling

A tasty little morsel slung over his shoulder.

In the lengthening shadows

I drift closer to Johnny

His hard arms surround me/comforting and  full of  strength

A cow moos in the distance as we round a bend

We wave to farmer Ben

He grunts without looking up

His attention focused on his unruly hogs

On a quiet grassy knoll we sit and stare in wonder

As the sun dips low/biding the day goodbye.

Girls conferenceEarlier on today I attended a Young Ladies Leadership Seminar.I had a great time interacting with young  women from varied cultural backgrounds. As I do  these events and meet more people.I find that most of us,share similar issues and that we want most of the same things materially, emotionally, mentally, and socially.I covered topics on Social media, bullying and some  ideas were presented on the appropriate nature of boyfriend/girlfriend relationships.Informative, engaging and at times fun, today I became part of the Middle School experience.

Change happens

Everything experiences change, even money goes through changes.

change_thoughts

Forgive the past. It is over. Learn from it and let go. People are constantly changing and growing. Do not cling to a limited, disconnected, negative image of a person in the past. See that person now. Your relationship is always alive and changing” by Brian L.Weiss.

Ever notice, that some individuals are stuck on an old perception of who you are. While family is mostly guilty in this regard, friends and associates often times miss the evolved and improved you. When repeated attempts to persuade them fall on death ears, you move on.Be blessed today!
